Happy Friday everyone! I am so grateful it is Friday! It is the beginning of our spring break and to be really honest, I am looking so forward to a week of no rushing kids in the morning, no packed cold lunches, no frustrated “get back in bed”. It has been so cold for so long and I know spring break means warmth is coming!!
I had a tough week, I say that a little humbled. I don’t know if you ever feel that way,the week had some tough moments, but yesterday evening just seemed a bit tougher! I had prepared and organized for the evening to go smoothly and it completely fell apart and I wanted to fall apart. I even cried a little! It is tough when you think you have it handled and find out that no you didn’t. I think I am also feeling crabby, I usually feel a little more emotional around the beginning of the month….. hint hint…. I had a very important PTO meeting last night, I am in charge of the meeting, I am co president so I need to be there. Guess what, I wasn’t there. I had gotten home and finished dinner that had been prepped for hours! I was preparing to leave when Mike came home and informed me I was already late! WHAT!! No! Alas, yes, I for some reason had it in my head I needed to be there at 6:30pm, that was incorrect the meeting started at 6:00pm.
I live 23 min away, I was running five minutes late as it was. I would have gotten to the meeting at 6:40pm.The meeting ends at 7:00pm. I called into the meeting but I did not get make it to the meeting! AUGH!! That mixed with just other little things felt much harder than normal. Last night I had a little bit longer prayer with My Heavenly Father, I needed to feel comfort and peace, because I was feeling stressed!
I do feel better! Today is a new day and I learned some great lessons this week! One is that don’t forget PTO is at 6 not 6:30!
I am really excited for the fabulous five this week. I think I have been feeling how am I doing at being a mom, how am I raising my kids? Does it make a difference or do those little things really not matter?
I feel like the Lord has been answering me all week that those little things do matter. That those around you and I are watching and learning daily from us and how we live our lives. I am grateful, so very grateful for the wonderful things that happened this week and the crazy, hard stuff that happened too.
Okay enough jibber jabber.. Here are my top five!
Heston was invited to a birthday party from school, I saw the invite and thought how neat that they covered up the G, we don’t say “Oh my God” and I loved that the little girl had covered it up. When I mentioned that Heston put his head down a little and smiled gently. Tucker piped up and said “she didn’t, Heston did that” I asked him if he did and he said “yes” I was very happy and very proud. I love that at seven years old, he is proactive about what he reads and sees. He could have left it and he chose to cover it up. He did not want to think “oh my God” when he read that and he did something about it!
My sweet friend Breann popped over with some cookies, just to say thank you for being a good friend! It made me feel so very, very blessed and so grateful. I know I say this often but growing up I did not have very many friends and never felt like I really fit in anywhere. To feel blessed with such wonderful friends is something I am grateful for everyday. Her sweet note is one I will cherish. I also LOVE that she coordinated the icing with the card! AND they were so yummy! She is amazing!!
Yes That is my van, and yes that is my mailbox! Yes that is two feet of snow and ice on the ground too! Did I tell you my week was rough!
Mind you that mailbox has been hit like seven times in the last two years by others, never me until Tuesday!
Tiffany was over and leaving and decided to stay and help for about an hour, we tried for so long I ran the van out of gas! She had to go to work, so she called my brother and got him to come help! Isn’t she cute!
These two sweet young men showed up! My brother David and his friend TJ (with the gas can) they brought gas, and manly strength. It still took about two hours, about three prayers and finally a neighbor “steve” to get me out! It was like 10 degrees outside, and TJ did not have his gloves on! They never complained the whole time. I am so grateful for them. Grateful for Tiffany and grateful for “steve” I am also grateful that the damage to the van wasn’t terrible, only a 10 inch big scratch! But after being stuck in the freezing cold for three hours, that little scratch is fine! I think I will have Mike back out the van for the next few days…
Emma got a ukulele, she was so excited and wanted to tune it and play! Emma called my dad and he came over, after working all day! AND at ten thirty at night! He stayed and played with her for about an hour. I listened to their sweet voices, their laughter, and their music from the other room and my heart was so full. I will cherish that memory for years to come. I love my dad so much, he is such a wonderful, kind, generous man. I love Emma so much, she is so sweet, kind, loving and just a joy. To hear the two of them was pure Heaven. Look how happy they are!
This little note from Heston. I told you early that I was struggling this week, I saw this on Hestons door. The kids have white boards on their doors, so they can write love notes to each other. I saw this one and it made me cry. I was wondering if I was doing a good job with my kids, struggling with feelings of not being an example, not teaching them enough. I had been struggling with that for a few days. When I read this, I felt peace. No matter how I much I fail, I keep trying and they are getting the lessons. Heston knows to be kind and sweet to others. He is learning that from me. I am humbled, so humbled.
Those are my top five this week! I am thankful for you who stop in and read this blog! Grateful that you want to share in the journey of this wild, crazy life of mine! I hope that you know how much that means to me. I don’t claim to be perfect! I fail everyday, every single day I could be better at things. I think this week showed me to just keep trying and even though I fail every day at some things; there are other things that are successful or things that I got a little better at. I think that is our purpose… to improve every single day, get up and try again! I hope that is what I share with you with daily in some small way!
Have a super Friday! So excited for spring break! YAYYAYAYAY~ Can not wait! I am sharing a chore chart tomorrow by the way, so if you are curious.. come pop in tomorrow and check it out! OH and don’t forget the giveaway!! Hot chocolate pops from Bella Rose Chocolates!!
