Happy, happy Wednesday! I am excited that the weekend is almost here! I am also excited today is grocery shopping day! We are on our last roll of toilet paper, and I buy the 50 pack from Sams Club! Hoping it lasts until this evening! haha!
I wanted to share some chaos! I know in the blogging and facebook, instagram world we show the best of our days, we have happy moments that we share…. I also know that everyone including myself lives real lives! Lives that are messy, loud, unorganized at times, hard, sad or just plain frustrating! YESTERDAY was one of those days! I did not get to blog like I wanted to in the morning before kids woke up, the house was in need of a deep clean and it was rainy. I love the rain, my kids do not.
There were great moments throughout the day! I got my bread made for dinner, we hung out, did a few chores, the kids played and then chaos hit! I had to take Lucy to her reading class and I was gone about an hour and a half…………. I came home to a bomb! The kids had a water fight, in the house! With water guns, and I had about six loads of laundry on the couch….. they used that to hide from each other.
Needless to say the house was a bit destroyed! They started arguing over who did what… it was not pretty I was not happy, I decided that was it, and now we were cleaning…… weekend cleaning! That means wiping down cupboards, mopping, scrubbing the tub out, all the big stuff! Also, no more delicious spaghetti for dinner………… nope now we were having peanut butter sandwiches and that was it! I was trying to show them how frustrating it is when we aren’t all helping each other!
If I am not fixing dinner, we don’t eat or if I don’t care about how well I cook dinner, it can be burned or undercooked or just plain gross. Who wants to eat a meal that was barely cooked or over cooked? It is important that I put forth a good effort so that we can enjoy a nice dinner, just like they need to put forth a good effort so we can enjoy our home. I think they got the point.
Then, my sisters called, dinner at 6pm at Salutes ( an Italian place) adults only, very important that we go. Mike and I talked about it and decided, yes lets go. We left the kids with Emma and instructions of no electronics and just peanut butter for dinner! Off we went!
WHAT A GREAT SURPRISE!! We met John Ratzenberger (aka Hamm from Toy Story or Cliff from Cheers.) My sister Katy did some videography with him, and also was friends with Adam, his host for the trip. Adam wanted to see the family and John wanted to meet the rest of the Abbott group ( Joani had also been working with them during this trip)
John was so nice, he called Emma and talked to her like a Hamm, she loved it! He took pictures with anyone that asked and was just a gracious man. We laughed a lot, ate yummy pizza and really yummy ice cream! It turned into such a fun evening!
When we got home, we had a great meeting with the kids, they wanted to try better, and be kinder. Mike and I talked about what we could do better also. There was a feeling of humbleness and a desire to be better. I am grateful for them. We ended with a wonderful family prayer, hugs for everyone and the older kids all slept in Mikeys room, laughing and sharing stories until the wee hours…….. and I loved hearing them. After a not great day, there were still so many blessings to be thankful for. We can always turn it around… we can always try harder and be humble enough to say I am sorry.
I wanted to share some fun pictures!
Peanut butter! Hey it was what was for dinner!! ENJOY!!
This cracked me up! John is a really funny guy! I love mikes face!
All the girls with John, He thought it was funny to never stop eating for pictures!
And a great one! Super, super nice guy! I am glad we got to meet him, and spend a couple of hours laughing and hanging out!
Have a great day! You never know when a yucky day will turn super! See you tomorrow!!
