Hi everyone!! It is Thursday! YES! You know I am really looking forward to this weekend! Not sure why, but I really am! Do you ever have those days where it just seems you won’t get everything done and you almost need the weekend to play catch up? That is me this week! I still have lots to do! Currently I have two boxes of crackers, a bag of marshmallows and a box of crisp rice cereal sitting on my counter just waiting to be split into snack bags and/or made into rice krispie treats!!! My goal today is to get that done… we will see how it goes! I wanted to share this fabulous way of keeping apples fresh for snacks. I have told you guys I would share it and today is the day! YAY! Big cheer! It is super easy! My family loves apples and I mean loves apples! Seriously we go thru about 15 lbs of apples a week! Mikey will eat four or five apples a day. We saw a picture in a magazine of this beautiful patio, now understand at that time we had a 200 square foot yard. We saw this picture and the kids were like wow, I want to live there! I said ” I know that yard is beautiful” No,”they replied ” look at the thing of apples!” I then realized there was a huge planter box full of apples on the patio in the picture! They love apples, so I wanted to find a way that we could keep them fresh and crisp throughout the week. This worked wonderful! You can do three things, use fruit fresh, that is a dry powder you can buy at the store, it works well, but can add up in cost. You can use citric acid, again a powder works well too but can add up. Or you can do it this way! Easy, very cheap! Are you ready….. you use a lemon lime soda!! You can use sprite or any generic lemon lime soda pop!
cut up apples into bite size pieces, I like to do them like the store does the prepackaged ones.
put in a bowl
pour enough soda pop to cover the apples
let sit for ten minutes
drain and package!
That is it! HOW EASY was that!! Try it today! Perfect to make a bunch and throw in your fridge. My kids take them to school for snack or you can just grab them and go! Let me know if you try it! I hope you all know I love sharing these ideas and even more than that I love your feedback…. so say hello! Let me know what you are liking and not liking about the blog! I want to hear from you! Have a happy, wonderful day!
HUGE HUGE hugs!
