Happy, happy Thursday!! The weekend is almost here! YAY!! And with it are some fall like temperatures…. gorgeous! Today is a high of 89! Holy Cow!! Summer is not gone yet!
Emma has her very first high school volley ball game tonight! She is beyond thrilled! I am so excited for her as she starts the fun journey of high school. I will let you know how her team does!
As we near the end of the first week, we have learned a lot! For me, it is no Texas roadhouse! AND for sure no face painting!! Also, it is really important to be as prepared as possible the night before. No matter what, the mornings are rushed and busy. I have found a few tricks that I love.
Prepping as much for lunches…make ahead sandwiches, make ahead snacks, and packing the night before..
And todays hint!
All you need is some cardboard, scissors, a marker and a hanging clothes organizer. The clothes organizer looks like this:
You can find them all kinds of places, the dollar store, walmart, target or ikea. I like the one from Ikea because they are really deep and this one has nine holders…. They also have some that are really deep, I can fit two children’s clothes set in each square. You may not need such large ones. But hey I have 7 children so I am really short on space!
Our school just moved to uniforms and although I am not a big fan of uniforms, it definitely has made school clothes easier in some ways and harder in others. To keep organized, I took all the kids uniformed school clothes and put them in one closet. Every shirt, vest, pant, skirt and short that was school acceptable goes in one closet. I then organized them by name. You again could do this with just normal school clothing. I love that it is separate from the rest of the clothes!
I used a simple and really cheap technique :) cutting circles out of an old cardboard box! I put their name on it and used them to separate each child’s clothes.
Pretty fancy right!!
Then the clothes are organized by name in the closet. All school appropriate clothing goes in this closet only.
I then have the kids on Sunday or Saturday night get all their clothes ready for the week. Outfit, socks, underwear and even a hair thing for Lucy.
I fold them into neat little sets.
I then just put each set in a little cubby! Mornings are so much easier! They have a whole weeks worth of clothes, done and ready. Even if you don’t have uniforms this is a great idea for avoiding those early morning decisions of what to wear! Emma does this too, she however goes to a public school, she can wear whatever she wants! I still have her get her clothes out the week ahead. It just makes the mornings happier and less stressed. I mean let’s be honest, do you really want the morning to be filled with frustrated tones, or getting upset with each other? I sure don’t and this is one way we can make sure that does not happen!
I hope this helps make your mornings a little easier and flow a bit more smoothly! It has helped our family tremendously! We do the same thing Saturday evenings in preparation for Sunday!
I still have a few more hints, I will share them from time to time but I hope you have enjoyed this week totally focused on school time hints! I always love/dislike the first week of school. I love it because it is growth and new things for the kids! Exciting times for them! I dislike it because I miss my kids and think of all I wish I had done over the summer… I have an ongoing list of what I will do better or different next summer. Isn’t that how life is? We are always growing and learning! Life is wonderful!
I hope you have a super day and pop back in tomorrow! I love your comments, please feel free to share your thoughts, questions, ideas that you would love to see or hear about! And I am on Instagram now! Of course, under myfabulouschaos. Thank you again!!
MESSY MOMENT!
Last night, we had to go to church for the kids youth activities. We were on time! Notice the word were! As I am walking out of the house, the kids came running in and told me Charli locked herself in the van. I had my keys in the van already so that was stinky. After about ten minutes we got her to figure out how to unlock the door. As I open it, an alarm goes off……..first of all what! I have an alarm on this car! I had no idea!!! I somehow got it to turn off, not sure how but I did. I then attempt to start the car, it is totally dead, not even a clicking sound! AUGH!! Now we are running late, Mike is gone at school working on stuff so it is me, my job alone to fix it……….. I grab the car jumper thing. I hook that up and nothing! I realize maybe that is dead, so I quick plug it in to charge it. Wait ten minutes in a car with all the kids buckled……..not so much fun……… try it again, still totally dead. Charge another ten minutes, still totally dead…. really frustrated at this point. send mike a message that just says, “van is dead… I hate this van”. I am not a fan of the word hate but that is what I was feeling for this vehicle at this point. I took a deep breath and finally did what I should have done in the beginning. I said a quick prayer hoping to know what to do next! I was quiet for a minute and thought maybe this has something to do with the alarm that went off! I quick grabbed that little book that sits unused in the glove compartment and found a tiny section about the security. It said to put the key in the door and lock and unlock it twice. I tried it and YAY!!!! It worked! Halleluiah!!! I said another prayer of thanks and off we went! I know it was an answer to my prayer to look that up, and I am so grateful that I can pray and get an answer for something so small as my car not starting! I will not be using the alarm again, I still don’t know how charli set it, and I also will make sure charli is not the first out to the van when we have to go somewhere!
SMILE BOOK:
answered prayers.. so grateful
playing outside with the little ones last night’
Charli made a leaf bird and was making it fly.. complete with caw-ca-caw sounds!! What bird makes that sound by the way?
Mike cleaned the kitchen before I got home! SO NICE!
