Happy, happy Friday! It is a Wonderful day today! It is time for the fabulous five Friday! I am changing it a little…. today I only have one to share… Today is my wedding anniversary! 16 YEARS! Wow! Time has flown! I hope you will give me this little bit of leeway , I had lots of wonderful things this week, cute little antics from the kids, people that made me feel happy and people who were kind. However, this whole week everyday I had one thing on my mind. It was my anniversary on Friday! This week I thought everyday about how I felt this time all those years ago, the week before, the preparations, the excitement, the stress! So this week, I can only share one fabulous thing. My sweet husband Mike. We have been married 16 years today and you know what I am so proud to say that! It has not been easy, we have had hard times, big arguments, stress, good things, bad things and no matter what we were handed we have not given up and I know we never will. Mike is an amazing dad, he loves our children and when I see him with them, my love grows even more. Mike plays with them in a way that I do not know how! I am not good at getting on the floor and wrestling or going outside to throw a ball around. Mike is so good at that! I love that he has that playful side with the children. Mike is an example to the kids everyday, he has such a gift with children. Mike is a teacher and I am so proud of him for the example he set for going after his dream. At the age of 30 he went back to school to get his teaching degree! One his first official day as a teacher, I cried! I have been around few people who you can tell have a calling in life. Mike is meant to be a teacher. He is an amazing one at that! I have to tell you our dating story… We met in church as teenagers I was 16, he was 17 and I always thought he was so cute and soooo out of my league! I had a serious boyfriend and he did not really date. I think I only said 10 words to him until I was 19! He served a mission for our church and when he came back, we had a class together. He sat next to me to make this other girl notice him and the rest is history! We became friends and a few months later began dating. I was his first kiss and first real girlfriend! He could have dated anyone in school but wanted to wait until he met someone special enough to give that first kiss to! Talk about that pressure! What if I was a terrible kisser! What if he was! Our first kiss was magical and wonderful in every way! AND he is an excellent kisser! After we started dating, I knew I wanted to marry him right away. I knew it because around Mike I wanted to be the best I could be. When you both lift each other up it is a good and wonderful thing! Mike went away to school, I worked and we wrote letters everyday! Internet was not big it was dial up if you had a computer! Oh my I am old! We had no cell phones, so our phone bill was around 200.00 a month! I still have all those letters, I cherish them. We became true best friends at that time. I went out to visit him four months after he went to school and on the last day I was there, he proposed! I said yes and ten weeks later we were married! Yes ten weeks! With a whopping budget of $800.00!! It was lovely and we did not want to wait anymore to be together! Some people were so leery of us getting married! Others encouraged us to wait, but we knew it was right. Fast Forward 16 years! We have seven wonderful children ages 14, 10, 9 ,7, 5, 3, and 1. We get to live in our dream home, near my family and his parents. Life is so good and I am so grateful. I will tell you in all honesty….. every single day I love him more. Every single day I thank My Heavenly Father for him and ask him to continue to bless us and that I will always see the good in Mike. We have had some rough times and at those times I would pray to see the good in Mike, see those little things everyday that can go unnoticed. It worked, it truly is the more good you look for , the more you see. If you are looking for the bad stuff , you will see that too! I love him so much. I look at him and I get tingles still, we go to a party and I am still so excited that I am his date. I still get excited to think I get to kiss him and be his wife! I am married to Mike! That amazing guy who picked me! Mike was super popular in school, friends with everyone, athlete, homecoming king and he picked me! My dad once said to me, ” be careful of him, he may be too good looking for his own good” HAHA! Mike is still super good looking! I am grateful for him, grateful for the sacrifices he makes for our family, thankful he wanted to bring so many children in this world, thankful for the encouragement for me to blog,to cook , to do a million crafts that may or may not get finished! Thankful for how he loves me. Mike truly is my best friend, he is the love of my life, I love him more everyday and I look forward to eternity with him. One of my absolute favorite gifts he ever gave me was a wall hanging that said, “if I had my life to do again, I would find you sooner to love you longer.” I feel the same way! Thank you for letting me go on and on about Mike! I wanted to share a few pictures of our life together through these last 16 years!
