Happy, Happy Tuesday! It really is getting colder! We had frost on the ground this morning! The holidays are almost here! YAY! School is in full swing and it seems as my family is getting busier by the day! With the children in 8th grade down to kindergarten and a husband that is a teacher, every night is full of homework, chores, dinner and trying to get some time in there to just play. It is tough! I was starting to feel like I was always just moving to the next thing. Okay, yay your home, hurry and eat your snack, hurry and do your homework, hurry and lets eat, hurry and get ready for bed. TOO much hurrying! After them being gone all day, I miss them. I miss my husband. I think about them during the day and wish I could just give them a hug or tell them I love them. I came up with a plan, I was running errands one day and it just hit me! I can leave them love notes during the day! I thought what a great thing to come home to! I went to the dollar store and got some simple post its. I wanted them to stick so I could put them where they would see them. Let’s be honest here, my kids beds are not made daily…. though I am working on teaching them that…. so far not daily, weekends are good..sometimes.. anyway…beds don’t matter in the long run right???? So I wanted to put them right where they won’t be missed. I just write them a little note telling them I love them and something else. For instance, if they got up really well, or have been really helpful, or if I have noticed them working on something. I try to acknowledge those things. Even for Mike, I try to look for those little things that can go unnoticed. Mikes today was that he let me sleep about ten minutes longer than I should (THANK YOU!) and he woke me up by rubbing my back. To him, it may have not meant much, but to me it was an act of kindness. I want him to know I appreciated it! I just put them on each child’s door. When they are coming to their room, I want them to see it. I always have them eye level so they can not be missed! I would also suggest getting a fun, vibrant color!
You can go beyond your family with this. I like to send random texts to people when I think about them. It is not much, just a simple I love you or something I appreciate about them. They are my little love notes to those around me. I find that when I do that, I will start remembering all the good, wonderful people in my life. I feel happier and I am hoping to spread that happiness to them. I never want to take that for granted! Sooooo……. go to the dollar store (I love that place!) get a package of sticky notes, grab a marker and write some sweet little love notes. Your children and hubby will know that you thought of them while they were gone, they will be reminded that you love them and it will make their return home even better! When they read the note, take a few minutes… stop hurrying and hug them. Tell them you love them, enjoy them for a few minutes! I would love to hear about the little things you love about your family! Will you leave little love notes? Tell me what your family thought the first time they got them! Have a happy!
HUGE hugs,
Lara

What a fabulous idea! There are times while they are gone that I think of that something done that made me so happy. Instead of moving one with my day or forgetting about it, what a great way to let them know they are loved. Post-Its are on my shopping list.
