Happy, happy Tuesday! I hope you are having a great day so far! I feel like I have been up for hours! Do you ever do that where you wake up and you think it is so late and you have totally overslept, only to realize you are actually up an hour earlier than you needed to be??????????? Yes, that was me this morning! Hey, it is okay though! I have a earlier start on my day!
School starts for us on September 2. I know it seems far away but it is not! All the stores around here are doing the back to school sales now, so for family home evening last night, we decided to take a field trip to get our school shopping done! The kids, Emma to Lucy needed supplies and of course Mike has a third grade teacher had quite a supply list too!
First, the kids each wrote out their own list, I decided to do this after seeing my cute cousin Angies picture on instagram, I thought what a great idea! So each child wrote out their list and I had one master list for all. That way once there, each child could meander about and pick what they needed and Mike and I could help the little ones who needed a little more help.
I loved having the kids with each of their own lists! Thank you ANGIE!! Brilliant idea!
I love the helmet! Just love it!
Marsha was like are we done yet???
Finally in Line! Whoo Hoooo! We still had two carts with each of the kids having their own basket! Haha!
Backpacks ready to go! Yay!! Lucy will be needing a new one! Poor Rapunzel is falling apart!
It was fun and so crazy at the same time! The kids loved having their little clipboard with their own list! (Thanks again Angie! I will be doing that again and again!) In the end it only took about two hours and we got almost everything off the list! The poor cashier, I had each child go through with their own basket, too many items were limit of two and also I could keep track of budget and who still needed what. I just told the people in line behind us, sorry this may be awhile!
We ended the night with labeling everything and packing all the backpacks, which are now hung on the door…. waiting! We had a treat, straightened the house, made a boatload of popcorn and ended the night with the kids watching a movie! I loved it! At one point when Mike and I were loading the fifteen bags in the trunk ,Mike said you sound a little snippy, breathe ! I think I had heard can I have this, can I please get that , at least 50 times! I was like, ” no, no more asking, please!, we have bought enough!” I felt humbled and tried again, this time saying ” sorry, we have spent enough… maybe next time” I think every parent can get snippy and overwhelmed, but what do we do when we are made aware of it? Are we humble enough to say sorry and try again? I hope I will always be, this whole parenting thing is a learning process….. you have really great moments and some not so great moments! What matters is that there are much more good than bad!
I really enjoyed the evening! The kids had fun, I feel better prepared and I got to see them be so excited over a folder they found that was “perfect” or SO SUPER COOL” AND we ended with popcorn!!
