Happy Monday!! Monday means Summer Love Notes! Today’s love note is ” Go the “EXTRA” mile! DO an “Extra” good deed!
Summer is here, which means days of kids being together, lots of family time. It is a lot of fun and let’s be real it can also be at times, crummy. I don’t know about your kids, but my kids can get into little arguments every now and again. Some of them more than others. I know with 8 kids, they are going to disagree at times and I also know how important it is to teach them to love one another.
So I started my summer love notes series!
Today’s love note is perfect for that! It is another super simple one, okay they are all super simple. All they really take is a printer and some spare time to run to the store….. okay maybe not that simple.. going to the store at times is dang near impossible… refocus Lara….
As I was saying today’s love note is a great one to teach them to be kind to others.
All you need is some Extra gum, pretend there is a picture of extra gum here………… should have taken a picture of the packages of gum. Last week, I would have not blogged until I had a picture of the gum. I am determined to blog authentically, and I don’t have a picture of the gum, I am not perfect…. and that is okay! Okay, so you get a package of Extra Gum. I found mine at the dollar store, four packs for $1.00. I love the dollar store, don’t you??
I made a pdf, you can print it here.
There are two to a page, if you only have one child, that is okay! Keep it for yourself, give it to your spouse, or a friend. It will brighten someone’s day!
Just print it out, add some gum and there you go!
I just put the gum next to it, that took great skill………….. let me tell you how many pictures I took to find the one I liked regarding the gum….8… 8 pictures… Here are a few that did not make it!
and another….
Silly I know! I just wanted the perfect picture. I realize it is just gum with a cute saying…. it is perfect the way it is!
I placed a little saying with the gum on each child’s bed. When they wake up that will be the first thing they see. I am almost 100% positive, that most of them if not all of them, this will also be the first thing they eat today too. AND I am okay with that~
I want to encourage them to be kind, to always be improving. AND to know that I love them and that I am happy they are home during the summer with me.
That is my purpose with the love notes. It is taking just a few moments out of my busy days, to make them feel special, and loved and to inspire them to be a little better.
Little side note, my sweet Mikey has his first week of scout camp. He left this morning at 4:45am and won’t be home until Saturday… I miss him already. It is so hard to see him so grown up. He is almost taller than me and such a good young man. I know he will have fun this week, I also know, I will be constantly thinking of him and hoping he is okay. He is really excited!
That backpack is almost as big as he is! My little boy! So bittersweet!
I had to get a picture with him as he was leaving, it was 4:45am… hey blogging authentically right. no make up…at all
AND I had to get a picture of his snacks! Only kid I know that keeps a 5lb bag of apples at school for snack for a day or two. This kid will eat 4-5 apples a day easily~
Okay,so don’t forget to give your kids a summer love note! One more time, here it is!
Have you done any of the summer love notes? If you missed any of them here are a few!
I would love to hear if your kids are enjoying them? I do them on Mondays, and the kids are loving them!
Have a super day, I am going to try to go the “extra” mile myself….I challenge you to do the same!

Love your posts! I might do this starting next week. I noticed in one of your pictures you have a door with “do your best” on it…is that kind of like your chore chart blog post that you did? It looks neat! Have a great week!
