Happy, happy Wednesday! Today was a great day! My sweet sister-in-law came over for a bit! She has children the same age as our two youngest, so while the little ones played…. I made a hair bow for her daughter and one for my sweet little niece Gianna! ( she is just two months old!) It was fun and so easy! What was not easy was getting on the computer! It was pure chaos! I loved it! My sister-in-law Natalie, was trying to read a book to the babies, Charli was literally running around the couch over and over again singing a princess song at the top of her lungs, the two babies were trying to play with each other , then Charli bit Natalie, so Aj ( her son ) then tried to bite Marsha, soon Ava( her daughter) gave up on the book and just walked away! It was chaos! It was funny, so very funny! I was tying to post, after all that I said “never mind posting, I will do it at quiet time!” So here we are! Quiet time!!!! Now, I love having little hair bows for the girls, however, they are so expensive in the stores so I don’t buy many. What is wonderful is that once you know how to make them, you will want to make one for every outfit! Watch out for that! You don’t need a hair bow every shade of blue…… you really don’t! I am speaking from experience! They are really quite easy and you can use any ribbon you have. Ava wanted pink and black so that is what she got! Okay! Get your glue guns ready!!
Items needed:
Glue gun
ribbon ( you can use any length, longer length, bigger bow! I use 16 inches)
small piece of felt ( I just cut one out the size of the hair clip)
needle and thread
hair clip
lighter or matches (something to seal the ends of the ribbon)
gem, or button
scissors
Okay! simple, simple, simple! First, seal the ends of the ribbon, I just used the flame from the lighter and ran the end of the ribbon across the flame, it prevents fraying. Second, thread your needle. Now starting on the bottom of the ribbon, sew back and forth along the entire length of the ribbon. Once that is done, tie the two ends of the thread together as if you are starting to tie your shoelaces. DO this tightly. This will cause the ribbon to pull together in a circle. Make the ribbon look like you want it to, I like mine with a bit of the ribbon on top. Tie the two threads into a knot. Then cut the excess thread off. Glue your little embellishment on the center of the ribbon “flower”. Take your piece of felt, use your hot glue and go along the length of the felt., open your hair clip and put the felt between the clip, with the glue on the top. Stick the ribbon “flower” on top of the hair clip and hold it to set. I always like to go back and glue the little piece at the top to make sure it stays! Viola!! YOU DID IT!!! Put it in a cute girls hair! Try to get them to look at camera… continue trying for about 10 pictures, laugh and say that’s okay, go play! Proceed to take pictures of bows on their own, hope readers of blog can imagine ribbon”flowers” in cute girls hair! Have a wonderful, happy day!!
